De fire søjler
Yoga Alliance (den internationale certificeringsorganisation) kræver, at en 200-timers uddannelse dækker fire hovedområder:
1. Asana — Teknik, Træning og Praksis (min. 100 timer)
Halvdelen af uddannelsen handler om den fysiske praksis:
- Stillingskatalog: Du lærer 50-80 stillinger i detaljer — alignment, variationer, kontraindikationer, assists
- Sekvensering: Hvordan du bygger en klasse op fra opvarmning til peak pose til nedtrapning
- Hands-on assists: Sikre justeringer, der forbedrer elevernes praksis
- Pranayama: Minimum 5-8 åndedrætsteknikker med forståelse for fysiologiske effekter
- Meditation: Guidet meditation, mindfulness-teknikker, mantra-praksis
2. Anatomi og Fysiologi (min. 20 timer)
Du behøver ikke at blive læge, men du skal forstå:
- Muskuloskeletalt system: De store muskelgrupper, led, knogler — og hvordan de arbejder i yogastillinger
- Bevægelseslære: Fleksion, extension, rotation, abduktion — det sprog, der gør din cueing præcis
- Kontraindikationer: Hvornår en stilling er uhensigtsmæssig (diskusprolaps, graviditet, knæskader osv.)
- Energisystemet: Chakraer, nadis og prana — yogaens subtile anatomi
3. Yogafilosofi, Etik og Livsstil (min. 30 timer)
Yoga er mere end fysisk praksis:
- Yoga Sutras: Patanjalis grundtekst — de vigtigste sutras og deres moderne relevans
- Yogaens historie: Fra vediske tekster til moderne yoga — en 5.000-årig rejse
- Yamas og Niyamas: De etiske retningslinjer for yogaudøvere og -lærere
- Bhagavad Gita: Introduktion til karma yoga, bhakti yoga og jnana yoga
- Ayurveda: Grundlæggende dosha-teori og dens relation til yogapraksis
4. Undervisningsmetodik (min. 25 timer)
Det er her, du lærer at undervise, ikke bare at praktisere:
- Cueing: Verbal instruktion — klar, præcis, inspirerende
- Demonstration: Hvornår og hvordan du viser stillinger
- Observation: At se en klasse — hvor er de, hvad har de brug for?
- Klassedesign: Temaer, musikalsk valg, tempo, energikurve
- Praksis-undervisning: Du underviser dine medstuderende og modtager feedback

The four pillars
Yoga Alliance (the international certification organisation) requires that a 200-hour training covers four main areas:
1. Asana — Technique, Training, and Practice (min. 100 hours)
Half the training is about the physical practice:
- Pose catalogue: You learn 50-80 poses in detail — alignment, variations, contraindications, assists
- Sequencing: How to build a class from warm-up to peak pose to cool-down
- Hands-on assists: Safe adjustments that improve students' practice
- Pranayama: Minimum 5-8 breathing techniques with understanding of physiological effects
- Meditation: Guided meditation, mindfulness techniques, mantra practice
2. Anatomy and Physiology (min. 20 hours)
You don't need to become a doctor, but you need to understand:
- Musculoskeletal system: Major muscle groups, joints, bones — and how they work in yoga poses
- Movement science: Flexion, extension, rotation, abduction — the language that makes your cueing precise
- Contraindications: When a pose is inadvisable (disc herniation, pregnancy, knee injuries, etc.)
- Energy system: Chakras, nadis, and prana — yoga's subtle anatomy
3. Yoga Philosophy, Ethics, and Lifestyle (min. 30 hours)
Yoga is more than physical practice:
- Yoga Sutras: Patanjali's foundational text — the most important sutras and their modern relevance
- Yoga history: From Vedic texts to modern yoga — a 5,000-year journey
- Yamas and Niyamas: The ethical guidelines for yoga practitioners and teachers
- Bhagavad Gita: Introduction to karma yoga, bhakti yoga, and jnana yoga
- Ayurveda: Basic dosha theory and its relation to yoga practice
4. Teaching Methodology (min. 25 hours)
This is where you learn to teach, not just practise:
- Cueing: Verbal instruction — clear, precise, inspiring
- Demonstration: When and how to show poses
- Observation: Reading a class — where are they, what do they need?
- Class design: Themes, music selection, tempo, energy curve
- Practice teaching: You teach your fellow students and receive feedback
