A yoga teacher training in Denmark and one abroad can both be worthwhile. First compare teaching, practice teaching and feedback. Then add every cost and the time you must spend away from home. Local training may make it easier to continue your practice and connect with a studio afterwards; studying abroad may give you room to immerse yourself in a different setting. Neither advantage follows automatically from the location.
Use the same checklist for both schools
Ask for the current syllabus, faculty roles, teaching format, assessment, absence rules and support after the final day. Compare actual instructional time with self-study, and ask how often you will lead other people. Labels such as “intensive” and “international” tell you little about the teaching itself.
If Yoga Alliance registration matters to you, verify the school and programme's current status and the requirements for personal registration with Yoga Alliance. A course completion certificate is not automatic RYT registration. That distinction applies whether you study in Copenhagen or elsewhere.
Calculate the full cost
Create three lines in your budget: tuition, travel and everyday spending. Add any income you would forgo while away, and allow room for changes. As an illustration, two courses could charge identical tuition; if one also requires flights and extra transport, the final bill will differ. Fill in figures from your actual offers. A generic claim that one country is cheaper cannot do that work for you.
A course near home can involve substantial transport and time too. If you live outside Copenhagen, put a real teaching week into your calendar. How many evenings or full days are occupied? Will you arrive rested? Where will you practise between modules? Yoga Bible's four-week intensive concentrates teaching, while its longer formats spread the work differently.
Think beyond the final assessment
Training need not end when you receive a certificate. If you want to teach locally, access to classes, colleagues and possible cover work may matter to you. Ask exactly what a school offers afterwards; do not assume job placement or guaranteed hours. If your purpose is personal immersion, online follow-up and staying in contact with faculty may matter more.
The first-training guide and cost guide offer more questions to put in your comparison sheet. Record the same answers for every provider so that you do not accidentally compare a training course with a holiday package.
A useful comparison puts learning, total cost and life after the course on the same page.
For an overseas programme, also check cancellation terms, access to the training venue, local transport and where teaching actually happens. Get the answers in writing and apply the same care to a Danish course. Attractive destination photographs tell you nothing about the amount of individual feedback you will receive.
Frequently asked questions
Is training abroad more respected?
The country is not a quality mark in itself. Investigate the curriculum, teachers, assessment and any current registration.
Is an intensive course the same as a retreat?
No. Their aims and assessment may differ greatly. Ask for a daily timetable and a list of teaching assignments.
Must I live in Copenhagen to train with Yoga Bible?
Check the current cohort's format and attendance requirements. Include transport and any income you would forgo in your personal budget.
